Living at Predator Ridge

Recreation beyond golf

According to the resort's amenities page, residents and guests have access to:

• a fitness centre and a yoga studio with 20+ classes a week
• an indoor 25 m lap pool with hot tub and steam, plus seasonal outdoor pools in several neighbourhoods
• five tennis courts and four pickleball courts, open year-round (fees apply)
• 35+ km of multi-use trails and 13.5 km of bike trails, with a connector to 40+ km at the Ellison Bike Park
• golf simulators and the Toptracer range

The resort says it runs more than 1,000 events and activities a year. Access and fees for each amenity depend on your membership or home, so confirm what's included for a specific property.

Dining & groceries

On site, the resort lists RANGE (with a 130+ seat patio), Pallino's Italian bistro, the Commonage Market (café, grocery, liquor store and Starbucks), and seasonal spots Outlook Cabin, Turning Point Cabin and the Bunker Bar during golf season. The resort has received OpenTable Diners' Choice awards (2023–24) and, in 2011, 2012 and 2015, a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence.

For big grocery runs, hardware or appointments, you'll drive into Vernon (about 20 minutes) or south towards Lake Country and Kelowna.

Trails & Ellison Provincial Park

Ellison Provincial Park borders the community. BC Parks lists it at 220 hectares, with three beaches, 6+ km of trails, camping and western Canada's only freshwater dive park. It's the closest lake access for Predator Ridge residents, because the resort itself has no waterfront. Woodside at Ellison Landing has direct trail access to the park. (BC Parks)

Schools

Predator Ridge is in School District 22 (Vernon). The district's secondary schools include Charles Bloom, Clarence Fulton, Kalamalka, Vernon Secondary and W.L. Seaton. We couldn't verify which schools serve Predator Ridge addresses, so check with the district: use the SD22 School Locator or email transportation@sd22.bc.ca about bus routes.

For golf-minded teens, the resort's RINK Golf Academy is a high-performance program for grades 9 to 12 aiming at college golf.

Healthcare

Vernon Jubilee Hospital is about 17 km and 20 minutes away by our routing estimate. Kelowna General Hospital is farther south. As in much of B.C., finding a family doctor can take time, so start early if you're moving here. Buyers with health considerations should factor the drive into where they buy.

Keep an eye on the Commonage corridor between Vernon and Predator Ridge. A proposed development of about 4,000 homes at 580 Commonage Road has been before Vernon council, and in January 2026 council deferred a motion about hiring a consultant (Vernon Morning Star). A project that size could change traffic and services along the route over time.

Four seasons at the Ridge

• Spring (April–May): the courses open, trails dry out, and the valley greens up. Nights are still cool.
• Summer (June–August): hot and dry. July averages about 27.6 °C at the course (model data). This is peak golf, patio and lake season, and also wildfire and smoke season.
• Fall (September–October): many locals' favourite. Golftoberfest, harvest and wine touring, with cooler mornings.
• Winter: no golf. Residents ski SilverStar (about 73 min), use the indoor pool and fitness centre, and snowshoe the trails. Some owners head south.

The cost of resort living

The purchase price is only the start. When you compare Predator Ridge with a house in town, add these to the monthly picture:

• Strata or resort fees. Many homes here are strata-titled, and fees vary a lot between neighbourhoods and building types. Falcon Point owners, for example, share the cost of a private road system.
• Golf membership, if you want one. It's optional and priced separately, and the resort doesn't publish prices.
• Amenity fees. Some facilities, such as tennis and pickleball, charge fees. What's included depends on the home and membership.
• Driving. A round trip to downtown Vernon is about 35 km. Most households here need two vehicles.
• Insurance in a wildfire-interface area. Get a quote before you remove subjects.

Pets

The resort's neighbourhood map shows a dog park, and the trail network makes it an easy place to walk a dog. Strata bylaws set the real rules on number, size and type of pets, so read them before you buy if you have a large dog or more than one pet.

A realistic week, April to October

A typical week for an active owner might look like this: two or three rounds a week, often early before the heat or wind, a couple of fitness classes or pool sessions, a trail walk or ride most days, and one or two trips into Vernon or Kelowna for errands and appointments. Weekends bring guests, patio dinners and, in summer, time at the lake beaches in Ellison Park. In winter the pace drops. Some owners ski SilverStar, others lock up and travel. Either way, it's quieter than a town neighbourhood, which is the point for most people and a drawback for a few.

Community & sustainability

The resort reports Biosphere certification for 2023–2026 and a TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice award. Member events, the summer Monday bocce league and the Homeowners Cup make it easy to meet neighbours if you want to. It's a mix of full-time residents, part-timers and resort guests, so some streets are quiet in the off-season.
